Do you know who Pattie Boyd was? Among friends, whenever we hear Layla 's song we remember the fact that Eric Clapton downed a Beatle, something that not many can boast about, however we never say the name of the muse in question and this is Pattie Boyd, and the Beatle in question is the great George Harrison .

About pattie.

Patricia Anne "Pattie" Boyd (born 17 March 1944 in Somerset , England ) is a former model and photographer from the United Kingdom .

Since 1962 she has been a model, walking for important designers on catwalks in Paris (for Mary Quant), New York and London. She was rejected from posing for photographs because of her prominent front teeth.

History.

In 1964, she met George Harrison, guitarist of the band The Beatles. It was during the filming of the movie A Hard Day's Night, in which she played the role of a train stewardess. They married in 1966, the same time that she wrote a column for the magazine 16. Twiggy, a famous model of the time, commented that Pattie's look served as a basis during her first years of career.

In the early 1970s, Boyd's relationship with Harrison became complicated. The musician's alleged infidelities, coupled with Harrison's excessive interest in his religious explorations, led to the marriage coming to an end in 1974. A year earlier, Boyd had reportedly had an affair with Ronnie Wood, a member of the Faces alongside Rod Stewart and future member of The Rolling Stones. This affair arose when Harrison invited Wood's wife on a trip to Spain. Years later, Harrison married Olivia Trinidad Arias, who gave him his first child, Dhani.

In 1979, she married guitarist Eric Clapton, a close friend of Harrison's. Clapton is said to have been in love with Boyd since she was 17. Clapton's drug addiction and Boyd's infertility made their relationship stormy. After Clapton refused to undergo treatment for his alcoholism, Boyd began a relationship with photographer Will Christie. They officially separated in 1989.

She currently exhibits photographs and writes about her years of marriage to Harrison and Clapton.

His great dedications...

SOMETHING

Harrison married model Pattie Boyd, whom he met on the set of the film A Hard Day's Night, on 21 January 1966 at the registry office in Esher, with Paul McCartney as a witness. George is said to have dedicated the song "Something" to her, although much later he said that he had written it with the music of Ray Charles in mind, and that it was ultimately a love song that could have been dedicated to anyone. In the late 1960s, Eric Clapton fell in love with Pattie, making his love clear in the song "Layla". Shortly afterwards, Pattie Boyd left Harrison to marry Eric Clapton; however, the two remained close friends; in fact, at Eric's marriage to Pattie in 1979 George played with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. LAYLA

The title, "Layla" , is inspired by The Story of Layla and Majnun (ليلى والمجنون) by the classical Persian poet Nezami . It is based on the true story of a young man named Qays ibn al-Mulawwah (قيس بن الملوح‎) from the Arabian Peninsula in the 7th century . Clapton wrote it after his friend Ian Dallas, who was converting to Islam at the time, told him the story. Nezami's story is about a princess who is forced by her father to marry someone other than the young man who was madly in love with her, causing him to go mad ( Majnun , مجنون, means "mad" in Persian ). The story had a great impact on Clapton.

The song is based on the story of Layla and Pattie Boyd's unrequited love. During the recording of the album, Pattie and Eric were already seeing each other secretly, although it was difficult to keep it a secret. Clapton hoped that this song would help him win Pattie over once and for all, and that she would leave her husband for him. In Pattie Boyd's book, Wonderful Tonight: George Harrison, Eric Clapton, and Me, he wrote:

We met secretly in a flat in South Kensington. Clapton had asked me to come because he wanted me to hear something new. He turned on the cassette player, turned up the volume and played the most powerful song I had ever heard. It was “Layla”, about a man who falls madly in love with a woman who loves him but is unavailable. He played it to me two or three times, watching my face for reactions. My first thought was that everyone would recognise me.

If that seems little to you, look at this photo... it proves that there are people who are in the right place.

I won't post any photos of her at present, because I don't see the point, but I do have to thank her for inspiring these great musicians to compose these great songs... so, ladies and gentlemen, the question of who is Pattie Boyd? is now answered. So, behind every good song, there is a woman inspiring the tormented heart of a musician.
