From Dice to Dreams: Creating the World of Albrana

Hello to all my dear 19 readers!

As you know, I am Aureliano, or better known as Panch, or Master Disaster as some have called me. I have been a passionate RPG player for more years than I can count. Today, I am here to share with you something very special and personal: the beginning of my most ambitious project to date, the construction of the world of Albrana. If I am not alone, I am with my 11-year-old daughter Vera, who without realizing it, her ideas, tastes and comments are the greatest construction tools I have ever had in my hands. Her tastes and interests are literally a challenge for me to create this world and this story.

Since I was young, roleplaying games have been a window into universes where magic is real and adventures are as limitless as imagination. I’ve delved into dungeons, explored distant realms, and faced epic challenges, all from the comfort of my kitchen table. With every die rolled and every campaign concluded, a dream began to take shape in my mind: to create my own world.

Albrana is not just the result of years of playing and dreaming; it is a blank canvas where I want to capture all those ideas that have been swirling around in my head. A world where every mountain, every river and every city has a story to tell, and where players like me can get lost in their own adventures.

This is the beginning of an exciting journey of creation and exploration. Through this blog, I will share with you every step of the process, from the geography and cultures of Albrana to the intricate rules that will govern its magic and mysteries. My goal is to build not just a world for roleplaying games, but a living universe that evolves and grows with the stories that all of us, together, decide to tell.

Welcome to Albrana , a vast continent where magic, mystery and legends intertwine in a balance as complex as it is fascinating. This world, with an area of approximately 10 million square kilometers, offers a diversity of landscapes, cultures and creatures that promise unparalleled adventures.

A Vast and Diverse Territory

Roughly the size of Canada, Albrana stretches from the arid lands of the Zahlar Desert to the lush forests of Calenthia and the frigid peaks of Kolvar. Each region has its own character, flora and fauna, creating a unique mosaic of ecosystems and challenges for those who dare to explore them.

Languages of Albrana

In this diverse world, languages reflect the complexities of its inhabitants. Among the main languages are:

• Common Albranese: Spoken by the majority of the inhabitants of the continent.

• Zkarithian: Language of the lizardmen of the Zkarith swamps.

• Nimio: A technical and melodious language used by the Nimians, masters of magic and mechanics.

• Old Silvan: A nearly lost language, reserved for the ceremonies and songs of the Silvans.

Religions and Beliefs

Beliefs in Albrana are deeply rooted in elemental forces and the mysteries of the past. Notable religions include:

• The Path of the Three Spirits: A faith based on the elemental guardians Azura, Gaeron, and Luxara, who represent water, earth, and light respectively.

• The Cult of the Eternal Mist: Followed by the Zkarith, this belief reveres the forces of swampy nature.

• The Dawn and Dusk Codices: Texts that guide the inhabitants of Auriel and other great cities, based on principles of balance and justice.

Origins of Albrana

The history of Albrana dates back to ancient times, when chaotic elemental forces shaped the continent. According to legend, the first sentient creatures, the Silvans, emerged from the eternal forests as guardians of this nascent world. Later, dwarves, Nimians, humans and other races emerged, each leaving their mark on this vast territory.
